Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 11, 2026
1. Overview
Aux ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Aux mobile app and website at auxapp.net (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using Aux, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and profile photo. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the name and email address associated with that account. Apple Sign In users may use Apple's Hide My Email feature, in which case we receive a private relay address.
Content you create
We store the music logs, ratings, reviews, tags, lists, and want-to-hear entries you create in the app. This is the core of the Aux product and is stored on our servers.
Listening history
If you connect your Last.fm account, we import your scrobble history. This import is optional and you can revoke access at any time. On iOS, if you grant Apple Music library access, we read your library metadata to help populate your journal — no audio is accessed or transmitted.
Usage and analytics
We use PostHog to collect anonymized analytics about how the app is used (screens visited, features tapped). We do not sell this data. You can opt out in app settings.
Device and push tokens
For push notifications, we store an Expo push token associated with your account. We collect basic device metadata (OS, app version) to ensure compatibility.
Payment information
Subscriptions are processed by Stripe (web) and the App Store / Google Play (mobile) via RevenueCat. We never store your full card number or billing details — only a subscription status and the subscription tier you have selected.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service
- Power your personal music journal, stats, and Year-in-Review card
- Display your public profile and reviews to other Aux users
- Send push notifications for social events (follows, likes) — you can disable these in Settings
- Process subscription payments
- Respond to support requests
- Detect and prevent abuse or fraudulent activity
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Aux:
6. Public vs. Private Content
By default, your profile, ratings, and reviews are public and visible to other Aux users and on the web. You can mark individual log entries as private, in which case they are visible only to you. Your listening history imported from Last.fm or Apple Music is never shown in the social feed and is used only to populate your personal stats and Year-in-Review card.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account). Account deletion permanently removes your profile, logs, reviews, and all associated content within 30 days. Some data may be retained for a limited period after deletion where required by law (e.g., payment records for tax compliance).
8. Children's Privacy
Aux is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format)
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hi@auxapp.net. We will respond within 30 days.
10. California Residents (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at hi@auxapp.net.
11. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encryption in transit (TLS), hashed credentials, and access controls. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We will notify you of any breach affecting your personal information as required by law.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and, where appropriate, sending an in-app notification. The date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
